Gibson 1963 Country Western Smoked Natural Murphy Lab Heavy Aged

Gibson 1963 Country Western Smoked Natural Murphy Lab Heavy Aged

Introduced in 1962 with a square shoulder body shape, the Country Western was originally developed in 1955 as a variation on the popular Gibson Southern Jumbo model. Featuring the body shape of a Hummingbird, but with a natural finish and an unadorned tortoiseshell pickguard instead of the Hummingbird’s molded, decorated pickguard, the Country Western delivers beautiful tone and a unique look that has been a hit with guitarists since its first release to this day.

The 1963 Country Western features a thermally aged Sitka spruce top with Gibson’s traditional scalloped X-bracing for vintage-inspired tone, solid mahogany back and sides with multi-ply binding, a 24.75-inch scale mahogany neck with a round profile and a bound Indian rosewood fingerboard with a 12-inch radius, 20 standard frets and mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays.

The composite dovetail neck to body joint is secured with hot hide glue. The rosewood bridge is a traditional belly-up design, with all bone nut, pins and bridge nuts, and the classic Country Western tortoiseshell pickguard is aged. The tuners are smooth-turning, aged nickel Gotoh tuners with white buttons for rock-solid tuning stability.

The 1963 Country Western has been thoroughly aged by the craftsmen at Murphy Lab to give it the feel, feel, and feel of a beloved, faithful musical companion. Expect a heavy weathered finish, heavy buckle wear, light playability, and light neck wear.

This is your chance to own one of Gibson’s most sought-after vintage acoustic guitar models, with all the tone, feel, playability, and feel of a seasoned vintage original, but without the vintage price tag and potential problems that can come with a sixty-year-old guitar.

A period-correct black hardshell case with gold interior from Gibson Custom is included, along with a certificate of authenticity.
