Harmony Roy Smeck Grand Concert Hawaiian Guitar Spruce Cuban Mahogany 1930

A Harmony Roy Smeck guitar from 1930 is truly a remarkable find!

This rare Harmony was named after the legendary musician Roy Smeck, known asĀ ā€œThe Wizard of the Stringsā€Ā and a pioneer of Hawaiian steel guitar music. Roy Smeck was one of America’s first true guitar heroes and made his mark in the 1920s and 1930s with his virtuosic playing on various stringed instruments. Harmony, at the time one of Chicago’s largest guitar manufacturers, recognized his talent by offering him a signature model.

This model was produced only in 1930, making it an exceptionally rare find. It is very lightly built and also stands out because of its ā€˜Airplane’ rosewood bridge. This bridge, also called theĀ Lindbergh bridge, was shaped after the plane Charles Lindbergh used to cross the ocean.

After more than 90 years, this Roy Smeck remains in veryĀ good condition. It has been well cared for and maintained, making it very comfortable to play today. It has received a neck reset and a refret. In addition, two cracks on the top have been repaired and stabilizedĀ with cleats.

The sound that comes from this compact guitar is simply enchanting! It produces quite a bit of volume when strumming chords, but truly shines in fingerstyle playing. Its dry, clear tone will inspire you to keep playing for hours on end.

For the collector or the player searching for something truly unique, this is an opportunity that does not come around often.

Comes in a Hiscox case with a TFOA passport.
